Static Mixer
A static mixer is a device placed inline with the flow of two fluids that is designed to create a heterogeneous flow stream. In the oil patch, these are used upstream of a cut probe or an isokinetic sampler on a LACT unit. A static mixer is a series of fixed, typically helical, elements enclosed within a pipe or other tubular type housing. An example of a static mixer is shown to the left.
