Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. The concentration of copper generally runs from 67 to 85% copper. Pipe with a high copper content is generally known as red brass. Yellow brass is brass with a low copper content.
Joints for brass are made by threading, flanged, brazing or soldering.
Brass is should not be used in service where Hydrogen Sulfide is present.
