Buttweld fittings come in standard weight, extra strong, schedule 160, and double extra strong. The dimensions and tolerances are in accordance with ASME B16.9.
Butt-weld is a welding technique when when two beveled ends (or plain ends) are butted up to each other and welded. Normally, the piping or plate ends have to be prepared before welding.
Depending on the design, a buttweld may be a full penetration or a partial penetration weld.
