An inclusion is a solid material trapped in the weld. This might be slag, flux, tungsten or oxides.
Non-metallic flux or slag that has been covered by subsequent layers of weld materials are called elongated indications.
In the GTAW process, tungsten inclusion can be caused by dipping the electrode in the molten weld pool or electrode spitting.
