A Level Switch is specified as LS on instrument bubbles on Piping and Instrumentation Diagram. A level switch provides a discrete input to the PLC. The Level Switch is typically used as a method of control in tanks and vessels. There are several different types of Level Switches:
- Float Switches
- Vibration Switches
- Electromechanical Switch
- Solid-State Switch
Configuration (Normal State):
- Normally Open (NO)
- Normally Closed (NC)
Alarms in the PLC can be:
- High Level
- Low Level
- High/Low Level
