Tesoro's Golden Eagle refinery is located in Martinez, California on 2,206 acres about 30 miles east of San Francisco.With a crude oil capacity of 166,000 barrels per day, the Golden Eagle refinery is the company's largest facility and the second-largest refinery in Northern California.

The refinery was built by Associated Oil in 1913 to process heavy crude oil transported by pipeline from California's San Joaquin Valley. The refinery's ‚ÄúGolden Eagle‚Äù name is an acknowledgement of the raptor hallmark associated with a previous owner's marketing operations.

Using crude oils from California, Alaska and foreign sources, the refinery produces a high proportion of motor fuels, including cleaner-burning Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel, as well as conventional gasoline and diesel. The refinery also produces heavy fuel oils, liquefied petroleum gas and petroleum coke.

Golden Eagle refinery receives crude oil by tanker through the San Francisco Bay, a third-party terminal at Martinez and third-party pipeline systems. Tesoro also operates refined products terminals at Stockton, California and the refinery. [1]
