An oil plant, also known as an oil cleaning plant (OCP) or oil treatment plant (OTP) is used in upstream production to treat the oil prior to shipping. Typically production enters the facility through a group gathering line and enters various separation equipment to remove entrained gas, liquids and solids from the oil stream.

After the oil is dried and entrained gas is mostly removed, it is put through a LACT unit for measurement and shipped.
