Peng Lai Field, Block 11/05 (Offshore), China

Located in the 1.6 million acre Block 11-05 in China’s Bohai Bay, the Peng Lai 19-3 discovery was drilled in 1999, followed by six successful appraisal wells. Phase I development of the Peng Lai 19-3 field began in 2002. In 2008, daily net crude oil production averaged approximately 14 MBD.

Phase II of the Peng Lai project currently is under development. This phase includes the installation of five additional drilling and production platforms and the construction of an FPSO. This second phase is expected to produce approximately 69 MBD net crude oil at plateau in 2011. Startup of the new FPSO began in the second quarter of 2009. ConocoPhillips holds a 49 percent interest, and CNOOC Ltd. holds the remaining interest. [1]
