A swing check valve is a check valve that limits flow to one direction by having the disk attached to a trunnion or hinge around which the disk rotates. Differential pressure across the valve in one direction moves the disk to the open position. When flow stops, the disk slams shut and the valve closes.
A swing check may be spring assisted to encourage the closure of the disk.
