Thanks a bunch! Did you check out the main site? There shouldn't be as many empty pages there

So your saying, a gold chip is one that has had as little hacked out of it for what it is rated for? As in it was striving for a 8700, didnt cut the mustard, so they hack bits and pieces to make it a 5200. The "less" they cut out of it, the more it is "like" an 8700?

Most of us have tried all sorts of different combinations of decoders, renderers, & multiplexors in the quest for the best video & audio in our TV, recordings, and video library. I thought it would be good to get an idea of what everyone is happy with, to see if any patterns emerge. Of course we all have different hardware but still, it could be interesting...
Here is my list:
Operating System XP Pro
Just installed SP3 for XP which is being pushed by Windows update now, but it seems to have caused some issues...Video card used Nvidia 5900Analogue or digital tuner? DigitalVideo renderer EVR
For some reason EVR seems to be less taxing on my system when playing HD content, and I get no tearing which I did get in FSEVideo decoder Purevideo
I have no idea why I am still using Purevideo I was using it to get hardware acceleration in FSE, but using EVR makes it redundant. The only other decoder I liked was the Intervideo ones installed with Hauppage tuners...Audio decoder ffdshow
The glitchy Purevideo started causing problems in GBPVR if I used it for audio, but it was good at extracting dolby surround from stereo TV and Mpeg4 files. ffdshow works just as well.Multiplexor CyberlinkH264 playback CoreAVC
The only H264 decoder Ive found that gives smooth playback on my rig.DivX / XviD decoder ffdshowUsing PVRX2 on CRT or LCD/plasma? LCDDisplay connection DVI-HDMIMonitor resolution 1360768
The native resolution of my LCD, so I get a great pin-sharp picture.I would have done a poll, but cant work out how to

Inspired by an interesting thread on a completely different subject on here dating back to just a year ago, I decided to make this topic. My question as follows.

What type of work do you not accept?

So to answer myself...

What type of work do you not accept?

I will not accept any work that asks me to develop a gambling, adult soft core, hard core, adult ads of any kind such as escort services, pharmaceuticals of any kind, hate sites, political sites, and spam sites.

Hi,

I need a stereo music interface for the kitchen, and not sure what type of kit to go for.

am about to put ceiling speakers in the showerroom any recommendations, and TV and wall mounted speakers in the adjoining kitchen.

I need the ability to play radio, cd and an ipod nano.

I was planning to run this from zone 2 and zone 3 on the lounge avr, but am now not so sure.

I dont really want to keep the avr on all the time, and think that having to go into the lounge to change cd or dock ipod would be a pain.

we currently have a little mini system in the kitchen, but am now wondering whether there is a more aestheticly pleasing option - ie. something that can be wall mounted, something that has a nice colour lcd interface, something that doesnt look like a hifi system.

am happy to use a seperate integrated stereo amp, and do the runs to the ceiling/wall speakers.

the ipod doc is for the girlfriend, who will not want to walk into the lounge and start twiddling knows on the denon amp.

therell also be an lcd tv in the kitchen, so not sure whether I could use that as a monitor for a system. the tv will also have sky on it.

also, could probably lay my hands on PDAs, so not sure whether that offers an interface option.

We do have some laptop PCs, and the girlfriend has itunes on it, but not really sure we can leave that on enough to act as a streaming media hub - my girlfriend swithes the kettleoff at the wall to save electrics/fire, so doubt wed have other things on all the time.

ideally, want to walk into the kitchen in the morning, put the kettle on, put the radio on, wander into the showerroom, etc.

also, the patio area is outside, so am either going to put up outside speakers, or will amp up the showerroom ceiling and kitchen ceiling/wall speakers enough for the sound to carry outside.

so, any ideas as to whether theres a wall-mounted media interface ipod doc thingy that would be cool for the above?

am I missing a trick with the lounge amp and sky connected tv?

or should I just buy a mini system and put it on a shelf and stop being pretentious?

cheers for any replies..
