# Eckert Number

Eckert number, abbreviated as Ec, a dimensionless number, is used to calculate the ratio of the kinetic energy to enthalpy.

## Eckert Number formula

\(\large{ Ec = \frac{U^2 } {2 \; c \; \Delta T} }\) |

### Where:

\(\large{ Ec }\) = Eckert number

\(\large{ \Delta T }\) = change in temperature

\(\large{ U }\) = characteristic flow velocity

\(\large{ c }\) = specific heat
