Work Done by Gas

Written by Jerry Ratzlaff on . Posted in Classical Mechanics

work done by gasWork, abbreviated as W, is the product of force and distance but for gas work is pressure and the volume during the change in volume.  When a gas expands it does work on its surroundings.

Work Done by gas formula

\(\large{ W = p  \; V }\)

\(\large{ W }\) = work

\(\large{ p }\) = pressure

\(\large{ V }\) = volume
