Elastic potential energy, abbreviated as PE, is the energy stored in objects as the result of deformation, such as a spring when stretching or compressing.

Where:

$$\large{ PE }$$ = elastic potential energy

$$\large{ x }$$ = length or displacement

$$\large{ k_s }$$ = spring constant
