Water, abbreviated as $$H_{2}O$$ or WTR,  can exist in three of the four phases of matter: gas, liquid, or solid.  It is a odorless, tasteless and transparent liquid, composed of chemical compounds hydrogen and oxygen.  It is the most common compound on earth.

## Water properties

• The only chemical compound that occures naturally in all three phases: gas, liquid, or solid
• The only inorganic liquid that occures naturally on the earth.
• Different from most liquids in that it becomes less dense as it freezes.
• Has the highest specific heat of any common substance.
• Has a very high heat of vaporization.
